What you can upload
Last updated November 1, 2026. Plain-language draft: to be reviewed by a lawyer.
Scroll California is for food. Short videos you filmed yourself, at real places in California, that help someone decide where to eat.
Yes, please
- Food and drinks: the plate, the pour, the kitchen, the line out the door.
- Real restaurants, food trucks, cafés, bakeries, bars and hotel dining in California.
- Your honest take in the caption.
Not allowed
- Anything that isn't yours: re-uploads of other people's TikToks, Reels or YouTube videos, TV, movies, or music you don't have rights to. We mute videos by default for this reason.
- People who didn't agree to be filmed as the focus of the video, staff included. Wide shots of a busy room are fine.
- Children as the focus of a video unless you're their parent or guardian.
- Nudity or sexual content, violence, dangerous stunts, drugs, or underage drinking.
- Hate, harassment, threats, or attacks on a business or its staff.
- Private information: license plates, receipts with card numbers, addresses of homes.
- Spam, paid promotion you don't disclose, or fake places. If a business paid you or gave you something free, say so in the caption (#ad or "gifted").
Who can upload
You must be 18 or older and signed in. Each account can upload up to 5 videos a day.
How review works
- You upload. Your video is pending and only you can see its status.
- A person checks it against these guidelines, confirms the place, and may fix the caption, the place or the food tag, crop it, or mute it.
- If it's approved, it goes live on the feed, the city page and the place page. If not, you'll see the reason on the upload page.
Reports and removal
Every video has a Report button. We review reports by hand and remove videos that break these rules. You can ask us to remove your own video at any time. Copyright owners can also use our copyright notice process. Accounts that repeatedly break the rules or infringe copyright are blocked.
Businesses
Owners can claim their place to fix details. Honest videos aren't removed just because a business doesn't like them, but anything inaccurate, unsafe or against these rules is.
